Travel Less Than 20 Miles to the Great Outdoors

Kamiak Butte Provides Students with a Breath of Fresh Air

Do you like hiking? Camping? The outdoors? Beautiful scenery?

Kamiak Butte County Park is not your ordinary picnic scene. It provides a breath-taking, panoramic view of the Palouse.

Kamiak Butte, a National Natural Landmark, reaches an elevation of 3, 641 feet and is equipped with over 5 miles of hiking trails.
 
Take the Pine Ridge Trail of 3.5 miles to the popular Palouse gazing view. As if feeling on top of the world, you can see for miles and miles the hills and wrinkles of the Palouse geography from any direction.

Where is Kamiak Butte?
Only 14.5 miles out of Pullman.

Love wildlife and nature?
Kamiak Butte is home to over 150 species of birds, animals, and plant.

There are endless possibilities at the park. Along with the beautiful view great for sight-seeing, the park also offers:
-picnic tables
-campfire pits
-cooking grills
-3 small shelters
-1 large shelter (capacity of 100)
-an amphitheater
-trails
-and a playground

Seven camping sites are also available, but are first-come first serve at $15 a night.

Gates of the park are open from 7:00 a.m. to dusk everyday.

Kamiak Butte is also handicap accessible.

Directions to Kamiak Butte:

From Pullman: 

-Take State Highway 27 North 11 miles
-Turn left on Clear Creek Road for .5 mile
-Turn left on Fugate Road (Road No. 5100)
-Travel .5  mile to Kamiak Butte County Park Road (Rd. No. 6710) to the park entrance on the left.
